Is there any end in sight or is this just the tip of the iceberg?

The Chinese find themselves in a precarious position having recently rejected American wood packaging material and Meat imports. They have started a PR blitz on how they are addressing the problems and trying to protect the "Made in China" label. This coupled with the looming summer olyimpcs and they are definitely behind the 8 ball.
Newly appointed Chinese regulators are facing daunting challenges in trying to overhaul a corrupt and ineffective regulatory system that is ill-equipped to control a marketplace teeming with unlicensed operations and entrepreneurs willing to cut corners to make a bigger profit. Those profits are at the expense of the American public health, most notably our children.
The Mattel CEO, Bob Eckert on the other hand is getting great counsel from someone and is way out in front of these recall issues. It is refreshing and encouraging to see a corporation taking responsibility and a leadership role in this crisis.
Again we pose the question; Can American live without China?
